POST COVID-19 LEAGUE GUIDELINES

The following guidelines will govern the Huntertown Lions Baseball and Softball league (unless superseded by a change in guidelines as posted and communicated by Huntertown Lions Baseball and Softball). They have been developed and adopted in conjunction with guidelines set forth by the CDC, the State of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Health, the Allen County Board of Health, the Indiana Board of Education and Northwest Allen County Schools.

By agreeing to the waiver in the Participant and Volunteer Registration forms, players and volunteers are acknowledging they have received, read, understand and are willing to comply with these terms and conditions.

Any spectators not abiding to these guidelines will be asked by on-site staff to comply. If refusal to comply, the spectators may be asked to leave the premises. 

HUNTERTOWN LIONS BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES
(Guidelines and dates are subject to change at any time based upon direction from state and/or local officials)

General Guidelines

  • Cloth face coverings are recommended for both coach and participants, and required when indoors or when outdoors and proper social distancing rules cannot be maintained.
  • Staff, participants, and anyone else in attendance should stay home if sick or displaying any COVID-related symptoms as identified by the CDC website.
  • If anyone arriving at a practice or game displays symptoms, they will be sent home.
  • Individuals 65 or older or those in high-risk categories should not attend.
  • Spectators are discouraged unless necessary for transportation.
  • Families should bring their own chairs and sit together with at least 6 feet between other groups.
  • No team or “community” coolers or snacks of any kind are allowed.


Participants

  • Each player’s gear should include their own hand sanitizer, and player is encouraged to clean hands often.
  • Each player should bring their own necessary gear and equipment. No shared gear is allowed.
  • Players should bring their own snacks (no seeds or gum) and water bottles for personal use only and clearly labeled with their full names.
  • Sharing of water bottles or snacks is not permitted.
  • Seeds and gum are not permitted.
  • Spitting is not permitted.
  • Contact activities, handshakes, high-fives and team huddles are not permitted.


Facilities

  • Teams are allotted the use of the dugout and the bleachers or fence area immediately outside the field (next to the dugout entrance) to provide for proper social distancing among players.
  • Spectators using the bleachers should observe social distancing rules.
  • Our diamonds are on school grounds. School facilities and playgrounds are guided by the State of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Education and Northwest Allen County Schools and will be subject to their guidelines for opening and accessibility.

Avoid close contact

  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people.


Wash your hands often

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others

  • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public.


Cover coughs and sneezes

  • If you are in a private setting and do not have on your cloth face covering, remember to always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash.
  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.


Clean and disinfect

  • Clean AND disinfect equipment and personal gear daily. This includes helmet, bats, water bottles, etc.
  • If surfaces are dirty, clean them with detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
  • Once clean, use a household disinfectant. Most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work.
